What’s most important to a busy merchant who wants to build their business ASAP? Influencers? Organic search? Blog posts? The list goes on and on. However, there is one methodology which has stood the test of time: Advertising. Especially since the beginning of mass entertainment, for example, advertising is the most reliable method of motivating customers to purchase products.

I have a unique background in this concept. For decades I was an Emmy-winning comedy writer, native born here in Los Angeles, who wrote some of the world’s favorite television shows, and enormously popular cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and He-Man. The shows I wrote, especially Ninja Turtles and He-Man, helped sell billions of dollars of products. While my shows generated excitement for the franchise, the overriding money was generated by advertising.

So, yes indeed, write engaging blogs, reward your customers to recommend your products to friends, and other methods. But especially in today’s fast paced world where new products are released daily, Instagram influencers are showing off their latest and greatest tennis shoes — you need advertising as the cornerstone of building your brand — and growing your revenue.
